QSR brand, multi-city
Restaurant POS — frequently asked questions
GST, QR menus, KOT, cloud kitchens, and how Basil compares to other F&B stacks.
Yes. Basil for Restaurants is built for Indian F&B—GST-ready invoices, QR menus, KOT and kitchen workflows, table management, and multi-outlet dashboards on web and mobile. It is a separate product line from Basil retail, not a supermarket POS with a menu skin.
Yes on Operations (₹499/mo) and Growth (₹999/mo) plans. Guests scan your QR menu, place orders that route to the kitchen, and pay or get billed at the table. Staff manage reservations (confirm, assign table, seat) and an Online orders desk for QR plus Urban Piper / Zomato / Uber tickets. Starter (₹199/mo) includes counter billing and a basic menu—upgrade when you need QR tables and online ordering.
Connect Urban Piper Hub and map your Urban Piper location in Basil Settings → Delivery aggregators. Swiggy is Urban Piper only (direct Swiggy webhooks are not supported). Zomato and Uber can also use direct mappings when configured. New tickets appear under Online orders and push into the kitchen display.
KOT print bridge, kitchen display (KDS), station filters, and waiter tools are included on Operations and Growth tiers. Starter focuses on counter POS, dashboard, and reports—ideal for new outlets before you turn on full floor ops.
Yes. Cloud kitchens and QSRs use Basil for fast counter billing, aggregator-friendly order handling, outlet-level menus, and consolidated reporting when you run multiple brands or locations from one workspace.
Basil is a modern cloud platform on any device with automatic sync across outlets. Teams often evaluate Basil when they want retail and restaurant verticals under one vendor, clearer multi-outlet roll-ups, or a mobile-first stack that is not tied to a single desktop install.
Basil is GST-aware for India—rate tables, compliant invoice layouts, and audit-friendly records for voids and adjustments. Validate your menu structure (combos, service charge) with your CA during onboarding.
Yes. Switch between outlets, share menu templates where it makes sense, and view consolidated or per-location analytics. Enterprise plans add SSO, advanced roles, and custom integrations.
Billing can continue when connectivity drops; orders queue locally and sync when the network returns so rush-hour service is not blocked by a flaky router.
No dedicated POS machine is required. Basil runs on phones, tablets, and laptops—use your existing devices for front-of-house and kitchen screens.
Yes. QR ordering opens in the mobile browser—no guest app install. Branding and menu photos stay under your control.
Yes. Restaurant workspaces stay on the restaurant vertical—menus, kitchen, and hospitality analytics—without mixing in retail store types or supermarket SKU flows.
Yes. Create a restaurant workspace and start setting up your menu and taking orders. When you outgrow the free allowance, choose Starter ₹199, Operations ₹499, or Growth ₹999 per outlet—no countdown pressure before you're ready.
Many teams issue their first live orders within a day once the menu and tax setup are ready. We recommend a pilot on a real peak service window—not a quiet Tuesday demo.
